wedding bliss

the day has finally come-my cousin kevin got married!

kevin and tammy have known each other for 8 or so years, became friends, and started dating about a year and a half ago. after a little over a year of dating they got engaged and then married this past sunday. we are so happy to welcome tammy and her son jack to our family!

they had their rehersal and dinner on saturday night at the county line on the hill in austin. both tammy and kevin were just giddy with excitement and it was fun to watch them enjoy their day-there were family and friends from texas, minnesota, costa rica and arkansas to help prepare for the upcoming wedding-

on sunday at 3pm they exchanged vows and celebrated with a reception at the church before they left for a 10 day honeymoon in Hawaii!

it was truly a beautiful day...and we were honored to be a part of it! congrats kevin and tammy!

Kal Kal turns 3!

what a day. after a fun and busy weekend at the lake, we closed the weekend with kal's birthday and fathers day. we celebrated saturday night at the lake with a cookie cake, pinata and fun.

 

On sunday we went into austin and watched toy story 3 in 3D, kal's first movie! it was a fun, great day and we are so happy our boy is 3!

kal is a sweet sweet boy, he listens well, loves being at home and is starting to warm up to his sister living here to. heloves his cars, pixar movies, histrain set, water, and knocking on neighbors doors. looking forward to watching him grow in the upcoming year.

Family Lake Weekend

what a great weekend! we headed to lake lbj for the weekend with kevin's side of the fam-G-ma & John, Scott, Jen, Corbin & Orion, and Pat, Ann, Jenna and Jase, and Libby and Cori. we played in the water most of the day Friday and took a boat ride. On saturday we spend the entire day on the lake swimming, jet skis and the boat. we had a great time. kal's allergies or a cold flared up but he slept it off today with a 2.5 hour nap. ryn wasn't phased at all-she kept mostly to her schedule. here are just a few pics of our weekend-

 

 
 
 

ryn is 7 months old

little ryn is a growin' happy girl! at seven months she is eating cereal, carrots, sweet potatoes, peas and green beans. she is sitting up very well and is still happy as ever.

she has no teeth yet but we think she is teething and some should be cutting through very soon. she has been very cranky as of late and when i give her a few teething tabs she seems to be better. 

im pretty sure she says momma but it could just be general chatter too-

she is generally napping twice a day and sometimes will take a third nap if she is really tired or if she didn't get two quality naps in earlier.  

her sleeping has improved dramatically this week and has slept through the night three nights in a row. she has woke up each night but she has herself back to sleep in less than five minutes.

we have been enjoying the swimming pool and the yard sprinklers and this week Vacation Bible School were she has been in the nursery with me. she is handling VBS better than her brother who cries for the first hour wanting to go home, im sure his class loves him:)

  we look forward to see what next month has in store for us!

Arkansas visit

We traveled to arkansas to visit my grandma lueker last week and it was really great. my grandma is 87 and she was running around taking care of us like she was 40. preparing each meal, finding toys for the kids to play with, working in the garden, making our beds up. if you try to help or assist she tells us to sit down and rest! such a remarkable woman. i really liked visiting her when i'm older now with my own kids, i learned so much from her, heard so much more from her stories, realized how blessed i am with a wonderful family.

when we first arrived that evening-we drove for 14 hours and got there around 8:30p.m. i think. the kids did great, really they did. grandma had sandwiches ready for us when we arrived. 

 

the marble game. this game is a staple in the lueker household. we use to play this game  
for hours(fight over it -) it was really neat to watch kalan enjoy it so much.

dad helped grandma put up a fence around her garden so the bunnies wouldn't eat in it while kalan supervised. her yard was so pretty and everything was blooming. bumble bees were out pretty bad so dad had to mow the clover flowers in the yard before kalan could really run around outside.

the lake-

when we first got to the lake kalan was soooo excited. there is a place at the boat house where you can feed gigantic carp. he just laughed and said fish over and over. we watched them for awhile then went over to the beach. kalan just walked in with his clothes on. i let him play for awhile then i had to get him out of the water to go back home and get our suits on-that didn't go real well but we got it done. we swam for awhile with ryn, mom and dad watching and went back to the boat house to feed the fish again. poor mom couldn't sleep for a few days after because she was scared of kalan so close to the waters edge, no rails around it.it was alittle scary because the lake is pretty clear, you can't see the bottom and you have these huge fish-some the size of kalan flailing about... it is such a beautiful lake too. mostly trees around it, very few houses. makes it nice and seem undisturbed. grandma and grandpa retired there in mountain home because they could fish-one of their favorite hobbies-

saying goodbye...it was really hard to leave. we only had two full days, wish we had time for one more. i am looking forward to another visit soon. arkansas is really a beautiful state, a hidden place. especially the areas we were at and drove through. beautiful mountains, homesteads and wildlife. the weather was great and everything was so green, i think it will be the next booming place-it was really pretty.
 
 
 
 

FOUR Generations-Mother's Day

i had the pleasure of spending mother's day with my daughter,my mother and grandmother on mother's day. and finally, after several visits with the four of us together, we finally got a picture. it was great to get together with most of our family on this special day, i missed all of the people that weren't there-

ryn is a growing girl!-6 months

we were surprised to learn that our growing baby is off the charts in length measuring 28 inches at six months old! that puts her over the 95% mark. she weights 17 pounds and 6 ounces right at the 75%tile. she is out her six month clothes and is well in to her 9-12 month outfits.

ryn is starting to sit up well with little help and rolls back to front instantly and front to back with some screaming. she is a talker, constantly babbling or "blowing bubbles". we are continually told what a good baby she is and we definitely agree! she is always so content and happy!

she isnt interested too much in toys but tries to grab at our phones and the remote. she continues to love to be outside and her big brother.

we love our girl time on tuesdays and thursdays when kalan is in school, but that will come to an end next week when kalan is home for the summer.

we need to get our calendar filled up with summer fun soon! 

potty training

we have started the underwear only potty training for kalan. we started at the end of april and he hasn't decided going in the potty is really for him yet. but we are sticking to the underwear only per the direction of his school and each day brings new challanges. as i write he has taken off his shorts and underwear and continues to play-we are in the front yard. oh now i just looked up and his shirt is off too... anyway we will continue on this journey hoping that he gets it soon...til then, many sheets to wash and potty spots to clean.

ryn is 5 months!

here we are at 5 months already! ryn has been super happybaby as usual, very little bothers her and she is sleeping very well through the night. we started her on solids but she started refusing them  so we have stopped that for awhile. she is a growing and we are anxious to see what she weights at her six month appointment.

easter weekend

we had alot going on at easter this year! both of my brothers headed down to texas again this year to celebrate easter as a family and for andy and georgette to renew their vows at their 15th anniversary on easter sunday.

my little brother was so moved that he decided to do a chain saw sculpture so we could all remember the weekend...

little ryn ate her first solids also. we fed her for about a week then she decided she wanted nothing more to do with the cereal. she also rolled over for the first time too!

i was so happy that we could all be together so soon again, and andy and georgette are thinking about resetteling in texas! we are so happy and hope that it all works out-
